Cat's Egyptian Background -- how they came to rule our lives

Historically, it is believed that the early domestication of the cat began about 5000 years ago in Egypt and there is certainly firm evidence to show that it was established as a member of Egyptian households by about 2000 BCE. As in the case of the dog which sought man's companionships so that he could share in the spoils of the hunt, the cat probably turned to urban life to benefit from the spoils of the hunt, the cat probably turned to urban life to benefit from the pletiful supply of wild rodents to be found in households, particularly in food stores and granaries.
